Motherhood Multiplied

Based in Grand RapidsServing families throughout Michigan

Hi, I'm Amanda.

A mother, gestational surrogate, and lifelong believer in the power of birth.

My story

I grew up surrounded by birth. My mom was a midwife, and for as long as I can remember, motherhood, babies, and the process of bringing life into the world have fascinated me. At 14, I already knew I wanted to become a surrogate someday. By 20, I wanted to foster children. Creating and supporting families has always been close to my heart.

But my own birth experiences taught me things I never expected. When I was 21 and preparing for my first birth, I thought that if I was strong enough to endure the pain, everything would work out. I didn't understand how much fear, emotional safety, and relaxation could affect the way I experienced labor.

Years later, when I became pregnant with twins as a gestational surrogate, I was facing something completely different: an IVF twin pregnancy and a planned hospital birth. I hired Lisa and Alyssa through Gold Coast Doulas, took a Hypnobirthing class, and experienced the difference that preparation and continuous support can make. When I was induced at 38 weeks, I felt informed, prepared, and supported. I had people I trusted beside me, and I felt confident navigating my birth experience.

That experience changed something in me. I realized that I didn't just love birth. I wanted to help other people experience that same sense of support, confidence, and trust.

That's how Motherhood Multiplied began. My goal isn't to tell you how to give birth. It's to help you feel educated, empowered, and cared for as you make the choices that are right for you.

Why a doula, not a midwife

I always thought I would follow in my mom's footsteps and become a midwife. Midwifery has such a special place in my heart, and I deeply respect the work they do. But after experiencing a doula for myself, I realized my true passion is in the support side of birth: walking alongside moms, helping them feel safe, informed, and empowered, and being that steady presence through one of the most transformative experiences of their lives.

How I show up for you

  • Emotional safety

Your feelings are valid. I provide a calm, steady presence, listen without judgment, and help create an environment where you feel safe to express your needs, fears, and boundaries.

  • Autonomy

You are the decision maker. I support your choices, provide unbiased information, and help you feel empowered to advocate for yourself, whether that means asking questions, saying no, or changing your plan.

  • Respectful care

Every person's story and experience is different. I honor your history, your identity, and your choices. I work collaboratively with your care team to ensure you feel respected, informed, and supported every step of the way.

Trauma-informed care is about meeting you where you are, honoring your story, and helping you feel safe, strong, and supported.
